Top Moments From The Golden Globes

The 72nd Golden Globes took place on Sunday night, hosted for a third time by the hilarious duo of Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, and the show was was full of powerful messages, light hearted moments, low blows, special appearances and some adult humor. It was a perfect mix making for excellent television, appealing to a very broad audience.

With a little bit of everything this year, let’s recap some of the highlights throughout the star studded evening:



“Boyhood” was the biggest winner this year, taking home Best Motion Picture-Drama, Best Director for Richard Linklater, and Best Supporting Actress for Patricia Arquette.

“Grand Budapest Hotel” won Best Comedy, though a few thought this was a tad surprising.

Eddie Redmayne won best actor in a drama for “The Theory Of Everything,” and Michael Keaton won Best Actor in a Comedy for “Birdman.” Best Actress in a Comedy went to Amy Adams, who starred in Tim Burton‘s “Big Eyes.” Julianne Moore received Best Actress in a Drama for “Still Alice.”

For television, some notables were: Kevin Spacey won best actor for “House of Cards,” Gina Rodriguez won Best Actress in a Comedy Series for “Jane the Virgin,” and the hit show “Fargo” won two awards, including one for actor Billy Bob Thornton.

Bill Cosby

With all of the sexual abuse accusations regarding involving Bill Cosby, the two hosts of the Golden Globes, Fey and Poehler, decided it’s never too early to take a solid jab at the once beloved television actor. Their lampooning started out in good taste, but then they decided to take the both gloves off and go for it all. Watch the video below to get an idea, and note the uncomfortable/uncertain reactions from the crowd:

Jeremy Renner & Jenifer Lopez

The two stars were on stage to announce Best Actor in a Mini-series or T.V. Movie, and after going through the nominations and fighting over who got to open to the envelope, there was probably the biggest moment from the night that ensued. Renner made a pretty hilarious comment about J-Lo’s revealing top — was it out of line? Watch the clip below and decide:

Stars Show Support For France

The recent terrorist attacks in France have lead to much political debate, and many stars and icons decided to get slightly involved on Sunday Night, showing off their “Je suis Charlie” pins, badges, stickers, or shirts.



It seems that everybody does indeed freaking love Prince. In a huge surprise, he strutted on stage to announce Best Original Song, and the crowd — along with the entire internet — freaked out. Watch the reaction here:

The Golden Globes typically serve as to some insight at what to expect with nominations at the Academy Awards. The 87th Oscar event will be held February 22nd, with Neil Patrick Harris to host should make for some pretty witty dialogue, stay tuned for more updates.
