Joan Rivers Snubbed In Oscars Memoriam – CelebriTrend

Joan Rivers Snubbed In Oscars Memoriam

On Sunday night, when the Academy Awards ran their annual “In Memoriam” segment, one name was conspicuously absent. Joan Rivers, a longtime icon in the entertainment industry who passed away in September due to complications from a throat procedure, did not appear among the names recognized.

According to TMZ, Joan’s daughter Melissa Rivers was highly displeased with the snub, though she’s reportedly choosing not to focus on it, choosing instead to appreciate the support she has received from fans.

In a way, the Academy’s decision not to include Rivers is understandable. Her involvement with the film industry wasn’t extensive, limited to voice-acting roles in films such as “Spaceballs,” “Shrek 2” and “The Muppets Take Manhatten.”

But while she may not have been a huge player in the movie industry, Rivers was the face of the Red carpet at the Oscars for decades, adding luster to the entire event.

What do you think? Did the Academy do a disservice by failing to commemorate Rivers?
